SEÁN MACKEY
Seán is an award-winning cinematographer & director based in London and originally from Northern Ireland.
He studied a BSc in Film & Television production at the University of York before relocating to London to work as a freelance director and cinematographer. He completed an MA in Cinematography from the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield in 2025.
Through Umbra he has produced and directed short films, music videos and online commercial content.
Finbar Somers
Finbar is a director & producer with a background across fiction, documentary and broadcast.
He directs and produces projects through Umbra, with a focus on bending and defying genre -what's the point of making something that can be easily labelled??
Finbar's most recent short film co-directed with Seán, 'The Whole World Blind (Or: The Ballad of The Cuck and The Eunuch)' premiered at Hollyshorts and was nominated for Best British Film at Norwich Film Festival in 2023. His feature as producer 'To Nowhere' had its theatrical release in 2023 to critical acclaim. In their 4-star review, The Guardian described the film as "a remarkable bit of drama – charged and slippery like an electric eel." He also produced feature documentary film 'A Distant Call' which premiered in the International Spectrum competition section at Hot Docs 2026.
